Before entering private practice, Richard acquired his unique TV, feature, and animation deal-making and documenting expertise as an in-house legal and business-affairs executive for companies as varied as Universal, Disney, and Paramount. Prior to forming Richard Marks & Associates, Richard was at The Point Media and Greenberg Traurig providing his clients with his pragmatic ability and experience on both sides of the proverbial table to close deals quickly and efficiently in connection with the development, production, and exploitation of programming for all media and platforms.
For example, Richard not only negotiated some of the first deals for his clients with now-established streamers such as Amazon and Netflix, but he has recently closed deals with new suppliers from Peacock to Podcasters. After graduating from UCLA School of Law, Shannon worked in Legal Affairs for 20th Century Fox Television handling script clearance and production legal work for shows like Modern Family and The Resident. She then joined The Point Media and worked with Richard for more than two years before following him to RM&A. Shannon assists Richard in all aspects of RM&A’s eclectic practice and has become well-versed in drafting and reviewing development agreements and day-to-day production contracts for scripted and unscripted television, feature film, and digital projects.
After graduating from UCLA School of Law as a member of the UCLA Law Review, Matt worked as a litigation attorney in Los Angeles. Preferring entertainment transactional law to the courtroom, Matt worked with Richard for 7 years at The Point Media before following him to Richard Marks & Associates where he routinely assists with complex matters for Richard’s high-profile entertainment industry clients across all media and platforms.
